BRITISH MADE WWI GERMAN IRON CROSS PROPAGANDA MEDAL, 'For Kultur', cast in blackened bronze (41x41.5mm), with ring top suspension. Crude, otherwise very fine with remnants of sticky material on reverse.
This crude cross was made as a scornful pun on the Kaiser's claim to be spreading culture. There were several types of these crosses made (see lot 4738) and sold to raise funds for the war effort.
