G.D.GUTHRIE, Bendigo Pottery medals, includes International Exhibition, Philadelphia, 1876, Awarded By United States Centennial Commission, in gilt bronze (76mm) unnamed; Calcutta International Exhibition, 1883-84, prize medal in bronze (51mm), scratched in running script on reverse, 'G W/Guthrie' (possibly Guthrie's signature), both medals in a blue leather covered fitted case with provision for six additional medals, some of these in this auction in the preceding two lots and two later lots and one was sold in our Sale 130 (lot 425), on the satin lined underside of the lid printed in gold is the name, 'George D. Guthie/Founder of/Bendigo Pottery'. Very fine - good very fine. (2 medals + case)
