ARCHDUKE FRANZ FERDINAND, Archduke of Austria, (1863-1914), handwritten and signed note on letterhead from the Archduke to his gamekeeper, reading "In grateful memory of the winter quarters in Ober-Ellerbach to his dear friend district gamekeeper Braun", Berg, 11 January 1913. Some folds, foxing and fading, otherwise very fine and rare.

With collector's description and translation.
The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on 28 June 1914 was the most immediate cause of World War I.
