NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 65-66, (7.148 grams), obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. around IVPPITER CVSTOS, Jupiter seated to left holding thunderbolt and sceptre, (S.1930, RIC 52, BMC 67, C.118). Has been mounted, otherwise good fine and rare.

The issue refers probably to Nero's deliverance from the conspiracy of C. Calpurnius Piso in A.D. 65.
