NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, (7.338 grams), issued A.D. 66-67, obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. Jupiter enthroned to left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre dotted border, around IVPPITER CVSTOS, (cf.S.1930 [£1200 VF], RIC 63, BMC 77). Old red tone, good very fine and rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 65 (lot 1711). The weight conforms to the average of the specimens in the British Museum.
