ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum, silver nomos or stater, (315-302 B.C.), (7.64 g), obv. Naked warrior on prancing horse to right, holding lance downwards, shield and two javelins, below **S*A, rev. Phalanthos to right, riding on dolphin's back with arm extended holding a bow and behind an arrow, below IHP mongram, TA**P*AS behind, (cf.S.345, Vl.626 [same dies], Fischer-Bossert Group 68, 810 corr. (V321/R628 [illustration of obverse is not die V321, illustration of V321 on F-B 811 is correct], HN Italy 938). Lightly toned, oval flan, small area of flat striking, very fine and scarce.
