MAHENO 1915-16 - MARAMA 1916-17, hand engraved in voided silver (21mm), by F.G. (Frank Grady, Wellington), ring top suspension. Very fine.

The "Maheno" was used as a hospital ship in the Mediterranean, Gallipoli and the English Channel during WWI.

The "Marama" was initially built for the Trans Tasman service, but was transferred to the Vancouver and San Francisco mail routes, she was converted to become a hospital ship in 1915 and retuned to passenger services again after the War.

Ex Leon G.Morel Collection, purchased privately in April 2010. With research.
