Sir Alexander Gillies (26 September 1891-19 February 1982) was a New Zealand orthopaedic surgeon. He was born in Dunedin, New Zealand on 26 September 1891.

Sir Alexander was the Patron of the New Zealand Physical Education Society and the New Zealand Association of Health Physical Education and Recreation (the forerunners to PENZ) from 1936 until 1982.
