N.Z.A. Royal Veteran Cross, in bronze, engraved naming, Corp G.B.Purdey (O&D.129). Very fine.

Longley records 'George Burton Purdy' on the roll for New Zealand Medal for service as a Corporal with Taranaki Military Settlers. Stowers records him as 'George Burton (Barton) Purdey'. He was born in 1845 at Camberwell, Surrey; joined the Taranaki Military Settlers, No.6 Company at Ballarat, Australia and arrived in New Zealand on 21 January 1864. Present at the action at White Cliffs, 24th August 1865.
