PAIR, handcrafted in gold (struck centre-piece) (9ct, 8.6g, 27mm), by A.T. (Anton Teutenberg, Auckland), reverse inscribed 'Northern Sub. Show/Takapuna/Tug.Of.War/2nd/C.McCarthy (Capt)/1918' (D&C.-); another, in gold (9ct, 7.0g, 31x31mm), no maker, reverse inscribed 'St. Ptks. Day/Tug-O'/War/Champ/Won by/City Parks Team/C.McCarthy/(Capt)/16-3-18', both with ring top suspensions. Extremely fine. (2)

Tug-o'-War was a major event at 'People's Day' at the Takapuna Show on 16 February 1918 and again at the Domain Cricket Ground (Auckland) on St Patrick's Day, 16 March 1918.
