LIVERPOOL SHIPWRECK AND HUMANE SOCIETY MARINE MEDAL, (type 3), with ribbon buckle suspender. Capt Willm. Forsyth S.S.Idaho. for Humanity in Rescuing Crew of Schor. Britton.Jan.15.1875. Engraved. Toned good very fine.

Awarded to Captain William Forsyth 'S.S.Idaho', for his humanity in running his vessel alongside the schooner 'Briton' while in a sinking state, in a gale wind, on the 15th January 1875, and rescuing six of the crew by means of ropes (the weather was too bad to lower the boats).
