GROUP OF FIVE: China War Medal 1900; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVR) (Admiral's bust). G.Shaw, Sto., H.M.S.Protector. on first medal, G.Shaw. Genl. Wkmn. on second medal, 131 George Shaw. S.P.O. R.A.N.B. on third medal, George Shaw S.P.O. R.A.N.B. on fourth medal and G.Shaw - Lg. Sto. on last medal. The first four medals impressed, the last medal engraved. Swing mounted, some ribbons damaged, the fourth medal with heavy toning, otherwise fine - very fine.

Together with soft cover book, 'The Navy in SA', by Ronald Parsons, February 1982 issue (39pp), with history of HMCS Protector; cardboard box with name of Mrs G.Shaw at Exeter (box damaged), with various damaged ribbons as well as pin-back ribands (2, one with 3 and one with 2) for above awards; Ex-Naval Mens Association badge (KC), reverse numbered 889; Returned Sailors & Soldiers Imperial League Australia badge (KC) (large 2-figure type), reverse numbered 16723.
Stoker George Shaw, born 10Nov1864 at London, England; Emb.08Jun1900 for China on board HMCS Protector; RTA 01Jun1901 on board HMCS Protector; classified as General Workman and Carpenter from 16Aug1913; approved extension of service by one year from 10Nov1921; Retired under Retrenchment Scheme 27Nov1922.
