They were attached to the troops that took the long desert trail across the forbidding Sinai fighting the Turks from the north and had many unique experiences in the strenuous days of the big advance in the region of the Jordan, on the Northern Hills, when the hopes of the troops lay in the supply trains. His consistent effort and coolness earned him the commendation of General Allenby.
