MARCUS AURELIUS (A.D. 161-180), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued 176-177, (27.78 g), obv. M ANTONINVS AVG GERM SARM TR P XXXI, laureate head to right, rev. LIBERALITAS AVG VII IMP VIII COS III P P around, SC across field, Liberalitas standing left with abacus and cornucopiae, (cf,S.4989, RIC 1205, C.422). Attractive even brown patination, choice good very fine/very fine with minor flan crack, rare.

Ex Roma Numismatica with their written and printed ticket, previously from the Stack's Sale of the Frederick S. Knobloch Collection of Roman Imperial Coins; May 1-2, 1980 (lot 752, $320US where it is illustrated). Lot also includes the Stack's New York Sale ticket.
