(PROPOSED) ROYAL VISIT, 1949, a small group of tin badges (30mm), each one featuring a different theme, with a red, white and blue ribbon attached, stick-pinned onto cards printed 'A Souvenir Of The Royal Visit'. Extremely fine and rare. (11)

A visit to New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth was scheduled to take place in 1949, however, the King became ill and was unable to travel. The tour was cancelled but by that time many souvenirs had already been produced, including a commemorative crown (five shillings).
