A.A.A. & C.C. (Auckland Amateur Athletic & Cycling Club), struck in gold (15ct, 17.6g, 32mm), by A.T. (Anton Teutenberg, Auckland), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'A.A.A. & C.C./100 Yds H'cap.10 Sec/300 Yds Ladies'/Bracelet 32 Sec./Won By/A.Jones/Mar.10.94'(cfD&C.S23); NZAAA (New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association), N.Z. Amateur Championship, Napier, Feby. 1895, struck in silver (40x30mm), no maker, ring broken off top, reverse inscribed '250 Yds Flat/2nd/Won By/A.Jones'; also, silver (.800) open faced chronograph pocket watch 'The Ascot, Patent 20th June 1897' (52mm), top wind, with white enamel dial, missing subsidiary hands, not working, inside dust cover inscribed 'AAA. & C Club/10.3.94/100 Yds Handicap/300 Yds Ladies Bracelet/Won by A.Jones'. Fine, the medals illustrated. (3)

The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club Carnival was held on March 10, 1894. 4,000 were present, including Lord and Lady Glasgow and their entourage. The 100 yards handicap was won by A.Jones (6-1/2 yards); the 300 yards ladies' bracelet was won by A.Jones (15 yards).

It is believed that Mr Jones was the first man in New Zealand to run 100 yards in 10 seconds, but this cannot be verified.
