THE BLEDISLOE MEDAL FOR ORATORY, Founded 1931, struck in gilt bronze (41mm), by M&K (Mayer & Kean, Wellington) (S.504). Small carbon patch on obverse, otherwise good extremely fine and extremely rare, probably a prototype.
A gold medal is awarded triennially for the best oration on a New Zealand subject (a great man or woman, Pakeha or Maori, in New Zealand history; or a great event in New Zealand history). Competed for by representatives of various universities.
