AETHELRED II, (978-1016), silver penny, second hand type, London Mint, moneyer Byrhsige, (1.19 g), obv. diademed and draped bust right within solid inner circle, +AEDELRAED REX ANGLORX (ORX ligated) around, rev. hand of Providence (manus Dei) issuing from clouds with double crescent sleeve and inner pellet, at either side A (Alpha) and W (Omega) with contraction bar above each, within solid inner circle, +BYRHSIGE M O LVND, (S.1146, N.786, BMC iid). Slightly wavy flan, toned, nearly very fine and rare.
