John Mildred Sanger, grazier, born 07Dec1889 at Daysdale, Corowra, NSW with previous service in Cadets at Geelong Grammar School, Vic; applied to join AIF but rejected as having had rheumatic fever as a child so went to England and enlisted in British Army; WWI: 2Lt in RFA, Special Reserve 13Sep1915; to D/36 Bde in field 28Apr1916; MID 18May1917; to No.1 Casualty Clearing Station, Chorques, France with urticaria; Disch. to duty 28Jul1917; Leave 13Sep1917; rejoined unit 02Oct1917; to 5 Field Amb for phimosis; to hospital 08Dec1917; MID 11Dec1917; rejoined unit 23Dec1917; Leave 01Jan1918; rejoined unit 15Jan1918; awarded MC in King's Birthday Honour List 31May1918; Leave 18Nov1918; Demobilised 14May1919; relinquished commission 01Apr1920.; WWII: appt'd to Base Command 21Feb1942 at rank of A/Lt (N146403); to Lt (Prov) and then Capt Temp to hospital with duodenal ulcer 17Jun1942; moved to GDD Caulfield with VDC and then retired 16Aug1942; Termination of Appt 16Aug1942.
