James Henry Elsey, bootmaker and railway employee, born 17May1855 at Collingwood, Vic; Enl.1890 in Victorian Military Forces on part-time duty and to H Coy Victorian Rifles; later noted as Bandsman with 5 Aust Infy Regt; between Jan to Jul1906 completed a course of gunnery, a Commandant's Inspection, classed as efficient, completed 4 days continuous training, 16 half days of training and 17 night drills; noted with unit 30 Jun1907; also awarded Colonial Auxiliary Force Long Service Medal CAG No.52 2/8/1910; Died 01May1936.
