TRIO: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 2 reverse with faint ghost dates), - four clasps -Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 2589 Gr W. F. Hadfield, N.S.W. Art. on first medal, 30248 ER-Bdr W. F. Hadfield. 1 D.A.C. A.I.F. on second and third medals. All medals impressed. The first medal swing mounted, several scratches on first medal, otherwise toned very fine - good very fine.

William Frank Hadfield, Boer War: confirmed service as a Gunner with A Battery Royal Australian Artillery; WWI: at the time of enlistment employed as a lifters assistant, age 35, born at London, England; Enl.04Sep1916 at RASG, Sydney, NSW, with previous service with R.A. Artillery including 21 months in Boer War, discharged on own request; to Gunner 2DAC 16Sep1916; Emb.09Nov1916; to camp at Larkhill, England; to ER Bombardier 05Sep1917; to France 03Nov1917 and reverts to rank of Gunner; TOS 1DAC 11Nov1917; to hospital sick 09Dec1917; rejoined unit 14Mar1918; RTA 06Sep1919; Disch.05Apr1920 Medically Unfit with fibrositis; Died 08Jul1942.
