ATTICA, Athens, drachm, (c.470-465 B.C.), Starr Group II, (4.19 g), obv. head of Athena to right, wearing crested helmet, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, olive twig behind, to right **AQE*, all within incuse square, (S.2523, Seltman Pl.XXI, vv, SNG Berry 676, Svoronos Pl.VIII, 35, cf.Starr Group IIB, 47, cf.ACNAC Rosen 205, HGC 4, 1627 [R2]). Surface porosity and roughness on the obverse, owl charactistic of this early period with separated pointed tail feathers, otherwise good very fine and very rare.
