CILICIA, Hierapolis-Kastabala, (issued by Antiochus IV, 175 - 164 B.C.), AE 22, (8.65 g), obv. turreted head of City goddess to right, monogram behind, rev. goddess seated to left wearing kalathos, holding a small sceptre, Palm tree and **[I]EROPOLITW[N] to right, **TWN PROS TW/ PURAMWI*, (S.5548, SNG Levante 1565, Plate 106], SNG France 2207-9 var. [monogram], cf.Dupont-Sommer & Robert, "Le Deese de Hierapolis-Castabala (Cilicia) No.12, Pl.XXIII, No.33-35, BMC 82). Dark green/earthen patina, nearly extremely fine and very rare.

Ex CNG Triton III, Nov.30-Dec.1 1999 (lot 1743 part) with description, previously from Harlan J. Berk stock No.109, Chicago, US ($175) with his ticket.
