CARACALLA, (A.D. 198-217), silver denarius, issued 216, Rome Mint, (2.86 g), obv. laureate draped bust to right of Caracalla, around ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM, rev. Venus standing to left, holding sceptre, resting on shield, around VENVS VICTRIX, (S.6891, RIC 312d, RSC 613) (illustrated); another, (3.40 g), rev. Caracalla on horseback pacing to right, holding spear, enemy kneeling before, around PONTIF TR P XI COS III, PROF in exergue, (S.6874, RIC 108, RSC 510). Toning, very fine - good very fine. (2)
