NEW ZEALAND INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, Christchurch, 1906-7, Home Industries Section, struck in gold (30mm), no maker (Stokes), ring top suspension with fitted pin-back suspension, reverse inscribed 'Mrs. R.Schmidt/Timaru/Best Doll In/Exhibition' (M.1906-07/40); another identical but in silver, reverse inscribed 'Mrs. R.Schmidt/Timaru/1st Doll'. Toned good very fine and very rare. (2)

Together with Gold Medal award card for Section 35 Class 6 named to Mrs. R.Schmidt. Timaru, with attached sticker number 1390; another identical card without the number sticker but written in red ink at the top, 'For best Exhibit in Classes 3, 4, 5.6.7' and ruled out '2334'; exhibit ticket for Office No. 4452, Section 29, Class 3; also a newspaper cutting that reads - 'Mrs W.A.Lee, of Wellington, has been successful in winning a prize in an international exhibition of needlework, in which the entries were enormous. This is the second occasion on which Mrs Lee has been successful in an international competition, having previously won a gold medal and special mention. Mrs C.A.Schmidt (see note), Trafalgar Street, Mrs Lee's mother, is also an international gold medallist.' ^^Note: Mrs R.Schmidt's husband's initials have been used. Carl Adolphus Schmidt married Rosetta Clark on 24 January 1880.
