George Trapnell was the owner and operator of the Radium Flour Mills at Brightwater, Nelson. Mr Trapnell was quite innovative and in 1906 had one of if not the first, automatic gate at his mill entrance so truck drivers did not have to leave their vehicle. He also had installed a turbine motor for the working of the mill.
