N.Z.F.U. (New Zealand Farmers' Union) Auckland, Special Constabulary badge struck in bronze (44x46mm), dual band slide-bar suspension on reverse, maker's name A.Kohn nearly illegible, impressed number 110 on one bar. A few digs and scratches at bottom right edge, otherwise good fine and rare.

During New Zealand's 'Great Strike' in 1913 the government used civilian 'special constables' to occupy the wharves, maintain essential services and protect strike-breakers. The NZFU, anxious to keep the wharves operational, actively raised volunteers from the rural districts. A total of approximately 1,900 Special Constables were raised from across New Zealand's rural and city areas.
