FAMILY GROUP: Queen's South Africa Medal 1902 - clasp: South Africa 1902 (O&D.41); New Zealand Long and Efficient Service Medal (G.T.White obverse) (O&D.92). 9560 Pte.R.Smith. 2nd Regt. 10th N.Z.Cont: on the first medal, No.161 Serg.J.Smith, Kaitangata Rifles (1910) on the second medal. The first medal impressed, the second medal engraved; also, fob medal, handcrafted in gold (15ct, 8.4g, 40x28mm), by A.Stoneham (Dunedin), reverse inscribed 'Ladies/Challenge Shield/won by/Kaitangata Rifles/472 Pts/Sergt.Smith (92)/ 20/3/09'; K.R.V. (Kaitangata Rifle Volunteers), fob medal, hand engraved in gold (9ct, 4.8g, 31mm), by A.Stoneham (Dunedin), reverse inscribed '2nd Prize/Ladies/Challenge Shield/1910/Sergt.J.Smith'; N.Z.F.U., 1911, fob medal, struck uniface in gold (probably 9ct, 10.0g, 26mm), no maker, reverse inscribed 'N.Z.F.U./Rifle Competition/won by/James Smith/Kaitangata Branch'; another, as last, 1912, in gold (probably 9ct, 9.2g, 26mm), no maker, reverse inscribed 'N.Z.F.U./Rifle Competition/Kaitangata Branch/J.Smith'; another fob medal, handcrafted in gold (9ct, 5.4g, 40x35mm), by 'W', reverse inscribed 'South Otago/Rifle Championship/1920'. Mostly extremely fine, the last five with ring top suspensions. (7)
