ROLLESTON, handcrafted in silver (28x28mm), by J&RG (J & R Griffin, Chester [hallmarked for 1915]), ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'SFH/23rd REIN', reverse inscribed 'Presented/By/Rolleston Residents/To/Private S.F.Haughey/23rd REIN./15-2-17'. Toned, very fine.
44111 Pte Samuel Francis Haughey, 23rd Reinforcements, G Company, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, embarked from New Zealand 14 March 1917. Killed in action in France 20 June 1918 and buried at Bertrancourt Military Cemetery, Somme, France.
