J.Graham/Skipton/Great War/1917-1919'; Cave People, fob medal, handcrafted in gold (9ct, 8.56g, 27x38mm), by G&TY (G. & T. Young, Dunedin, Timaru), ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'JG', reverse inscribed '28th Rfms/To/Pvte J Graham/In Recognition Of his/Services/In The Great/War/From Cave People/4.7.19'. Toned, otherwise very fine. (2)

A Welcome Home Social and medal presentation event was held at Cave on Friday 4 July 1919. The soldiers presented with medals were Ptes F.Graham, A.Graham, J.Graham and Gunner H.Winter. There is a memorial rock at Cave in South Canterbury that sits on top of the pass above the township in recognition of men from the Cave, Cannington and Moutakaika Districts who served in WWI and WWII. The above four names are recorded on it.
