(WANGANUI HIGHLAND RIFLES), fob medal, handcrafted in voided gold (9ct, 5.93g, 29x36mm), no maker, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'FNK', reverse inscribed '9/155/Pvte.F.N.King/Winner of/Sqn. Belt/1910 also 1911'. Good very fine.

In December 1911 F.King was awarded a gold medal for best aggregate in rifle shooting at St Patrick's College and also as a 19 year-old member of the Wanganui Highland Rifles was champion of the North Island in the same year winning a champion belt and a gold medal.
