UNITED FIRE BRIGADES ASSOCIATION OF N Z, Long Service Medal for five years service, in silver (39mm), by A.T. (Anton Teutenberg, Auckland), with (3) 2 Years Service bars, reverse inscribed 'Statn. Off./A.McJennett/by/Invercargill F.B./20.12.28' (D&C.L3; O&D.115); 25 Years Service Star, in gold (9ct, tot wt 20.83g, 38mm), no maker, with (2) gold 6 Years Service bars, reverse inscribed 'Presented to/A.F.Mc.Jennett/Invercargill. V.F.B./21-12-48.' (O&D.115); unidentified fob in voided gilt (27x35mm), no maker, ring top suspension with ribbon. Very fine. (3)

At the sixth annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the Institution of Fire Engineers (Great Britain) held in Palmerston North in early March 1937 Inspecting Officer A.McJennett of the Wellington Fire Brigade gave a paper on the subject of the part that the utilisation of radio would play in the future development of fire fighting services.^^In June 1939 Inspecting Officer A.McJennett was one of four officers selected by the Wellington Fire Board to undertake air raid precautions and anti-gas training.^^A trial evacuation of the legislative staffs and occupants of the offices in Parliament House, including the Prime Minister Mr P.Fraser, at Wellington was held on 28 January 1942. The trail evacuation was followed by a demonstration of the most effective methods to adopt to extinguish incendiary bombs. Six of the British A.R.P. (Air Raid Precaution) practice incendiary bombs were used and the commentary was given by Fourth Officer A.McJennett, of the Wellington Fire Brigade, who was liaison officer between the brigade and the E.P.S. (Emergency Precautions Scheme) organisation.^^In 1944 A.McJennett's only son, Pilot Officer Frank George Andrew McJennett RNZAF, was reported killed on active service. ^^By 1949 A.McJennett had been promoted to Deputy Superintendent of the Invercargill Fire Brigade.
