UNITED FIRE BRIGADES ASSOCIATION OF N Z, Long Service Medal for five years service, in silver (39mm), by A.T. (Anton Teutenberg, Auckland), reverse inscribed 'Secretary/W.Meadows./by/Hikurangi/V.F.B./2.12.39' (D&C.L3; O&D.115). 25 Years Service Star, in gold (9ct, tot wt 13.18g, 39mm), by D.B (David Butcher, Stratford), reverse inscribed 'W.Meadows/Hikurangi F.B./21.2.70' (O&D.115); Honorary Life Member medal in silver, by DB (David Butcher), reverse inscribed 'W.Meadows/Hikurangi F/B/27-6-70' (O&D.115). Very fine. (3)

Mr W.Meadows was on the staff of the Hikurangi Post Office and he was also appointed to the executive committee of the Hikurangi Branch of the Red Cross Society in New Zealand when that branch was established in September 1939. In 1946 he was the secretary of the Hikurangi sub-branch of the New Zealand Homeservicemen's Association and in 1948 he was invested as treasurer of the Masonic Blue Lodge, Hikurangi No 140.
