NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE MASONIC ASSOCN, medal in gilt silver and enamel (35x44mm), by G.Kennings & Son, London, with hallmark for Birmingham 1924, with stick-pin suspension bar and medal suspender in gilt and enamel 'Founded In', 'France 1917', with gilt crossed rifle and sabre emblem on ribbon, reverse of medal inscribed '159/A.M.Davies.', in maker's branded box of issue. Some short test scratches on reverse, otherwise extremely fine.
Augustus Morgan Davies was born in Emerald, Victoria, Australia in 1875. He was working in New Zealand as a warehouseman when he enlisted in the NZEF on 24 July 1916. He was wounded in action on 19 June 1917 and discharged as medically unfit on 3 February 1918. After the war he worked as a commercial traveller and he died at Palmerston North in 1940.
