CCS (CHRISTCHURCH COMPETITIONS SOCIETY), handcrafted in voided gold (9ct, 5.48g, 25x31mm), by SD&Co (Stewart Dawson & Co), pin-back and also small loop at top back, reverse inscribed 'Presented/To/A.H.Hobbs Esq/President/1923-4', in case of issue by Stewart Dawson & Co (N.Z.) Ltd. Extremely fine.
Bro. A.H.Hobbs of Christchurch was also president of the Board of General Purposes of The Freemasons of New Zealand and was in the chair when they entertained Lord Jellicoe, Grand Master of New Zealand, at a farewell dinner 0n 20 October 1924 in Christchurch and attended by about 500 Masons. They presented Lord Jellicoe with a Past Master's regalia and a Masonic jewel set with diamonds and bearing fern leaves as well as Masonic emblems.
