AUCKLAND COMPETITIONS SOCIETY. N.Z., struck in silver (45mm), by V&S (Vaughton & Son, Birmingham), reverse inscribed 'Clarice E.Wood/Sight Reading/Piano/(Under 16)'; another in bronze, reverse inscribed 'Piano Solo/under 16/Clarice Wood'. Nearly extremely fine. (2)

Clarice Wood won the above medals in December 1911. She went on to become a well-known pianist in Auckland musical circles and a concert performer. In 1924 she married Mr Ernest Drake, a well-known tenor singer of Dunedin.
