CHRISTCHURCH TECHNICAL COLLEGE, 1939, large sterling silver trophy cup (0.425kg, diam 9.5cm, ht 19.8cm), hallmarked for Birmingham 1924 by maker D&F (Deakin & Francis Ltd), on one side is inscribed 'Christchurch Technical College/Presented By/Mrs E.V.Howell/December 1931/For Speaking Competition/To Promote International Friendship/1932 Rose Jones/1933 Mrs Esther Buchanan/1934 G.E.Windsor/1935 L.A.Efford/1936 G.E.Windsor/1937 Mrs Ellen Last/1938 (blank)/1939 R.C.H.Madsen.' Very fine.

This cup was presented by Mrs E.V.Howell on the occasion of the Christchurch Technical College's twenty-fifth anniversary. A condition of this annual award was that the subject for speeches should have a definite relation to international peace.
