COLUMBA COLLEGE, handcrafted in gold (15ct, 12.41g, 25mm), G.&T.Y.Ltd (G. & T. Young Ltd, Dunedin and Timaru), scroll and ring top suspension, chain and pin-back suspension bar 'Gratia Et Disciplina Bona', reverse of medal inscribed 'Lorna Patrick/Dux/1948'. Uncirculated and rare.
In box of maker, G. & T. Young Ltd Dunedin and Timaru, with their logo.^^Columba College is a private Presbyterian boarding and day school in Roslyn, Dunedin. Lorna Patrick was from a very prominent family but sadly, in 1953, one day after gaining her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Otago she died while undergoing an operation for appendicitis. She was only 22 years of age. The family donated money to establish the Lorna Patrick Memorial Fund and the Faculty of Dentistry still gives awards in her name.^^With research.
