ACC (AUCKLAND CYCLING CLUB), (Fire Brigade Competition), fob medal, uniface, handcrafted in silver with gold (26mm), no maker, ring top suspension attached to fob bar, reverse inscribed '3 Men Hose & Hyd/Competition/1st/Prize/C.Surman/A.Dunn&H.Jane/27.10.00'. Very fine.

The Auckland Cycling Club's Spring Carnival also included fire brigade competitions. Details of one of these events are as follows;^^Hose and Hydrant Competition for Three Men-Competitors to run 5yds, pick up hydrant, two (50ft) coils strapped hose, and two branches, run 50yds to plug, fix hydrant, run out 50ft of hose from each delivery of hydrants, fix branches. At starting, all gear to be detached and lying flat on the ground, hydrant to be capped on one delivery. Branchmen to stand 2yds in front of branches, hydrant-man to hold hands over head when finished. This event attracted no less than 16 entries, and was very keenly contested. The Mount Eden No. 1 team, consisting of Foreman C. Surman and Firemen A. Dunn and H. Jane, carried off the first honours, with a really good run, the time returned being 25 2-5s. (including 2s. penalty). The Thames No. 2 team gained second place, pushing the winners closely as far as the time was concerned, they finishing in 26 2-5s.
