CHALLENGE CUP, (annual football match), large sterling silver trophy cup (0.487kg, diam 12.5cm, ht 25.5cm), hallmarked for Sheffield 1909 by maker RM/EH (Martin, Hall & Co [Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall]), on one side is inscribed 'Challenge Cup/To Be Competed For Annually/Between/Masterton Bank & Law Clerks/And The/Stock & Station Agents & Dentists', on another section starting near the top edge of the cup is inscribed '1933 Stock & Station 14-6/Banks & Law V. Stock/1943. 1945./1944. 1947./1946. 1948./1949. 1950./1951./1952./1953. Banks, Law, Borthwicks. 9-3./1954. Stock & Station Agents. 25-5./1955. Stock & Station Agents. 13-11.'Stock & Station Agents. 13-11.'; together with a solid, circular timber base with silver shields around, one missing, the rest for various years from 1913 through to 1932 and each inscribed with the winning team except one inscribed 'Match Discontinued/Owing To The War/1914-1917'. The base very good, the cup with a few small dents, remnants of cleaning compound in inscription, very tarnished and needs a good clean, otherwise fine and rare.

The 1933 annual football match between the Banks, Law and Dentists and Stock and Station Agents was played on Cameron Memorial Park in September. The game was won by the Stock and Station Agents by 14 points to 6. The winners scored four tries and one conversion with the losers kicking two penalty goals.
