MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.27 g), Abydus Mint, issued c.328-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, male wearing chlamys standing to left, M monogram below throne, to right **ALEXANDROU*. (cf.S.6730, Price 1501, BMC 1501a-c, M.906, SNG Cop.892). Extremely fine, scarce.
