MACEDON, Kingdom of, Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), AE 17, single unit, uncertain Macedonian mint, (8.03 g), probably issued posthumously c.323/2-315 B.C., obv. Apollo head to left with plain tainia, dotted border, rev. naked youth on horse to right, above **FILOPPOU*, below horse horizontal fulmen (thunderbolt), (cf.S.6696, SNG ANS 882, Drama Hoard No.41, SNG Greece [Alpha Bank] II, 347-8). Extremely fine, well centred, rare in this condition, very rare head left type.
