PHOENICIA, Sidon, Ba`alillem (Sakton) II, (c. 401-366 B.C.), silver double Shekel, 25x32 mm, (27.79 g), obv. Phoenician galley above waves left; above, ('b' in Phoenician), rev. Persian king, raising his right hand, and driver, holding reins with both hands, in chariot left; to right, king of Sidon, in Egyptian style garments, walking left, holding cultic sceptre in his right hand, (cf.S.5834, Betlyon 18. E&E-S Group IV.1.1.a., BMC 19ff, SNG Fitz 6046-8, HGC 10, 236). Very fine and very rare.

Ex Previously Wayne Woolmer Collection, bought at Spink Auctions Australia, Sale 34, (Noble Numismatics) November 14, 1990 (lot 1891), acquired from Superior Los Angeles, 1989.
