AGRIPPINA SENIOR, wife of Germanicus and mother of Caligula, (died A.D. 33), AE sestertius, Rome Mint, restitution issue under Titus, c.80-81, (24.78 g), obv. draped bust to right, around AGRIPPINA M F GERMANICI CAESARIS, rev. around IMP T CAES DIVI F AVG P M TR P PP COS VIII, S C in centre, REST above, (S.2600, RIC 419, BMC 296). Toned, brown surface but porous with rough surface, otherwise nearly very fine, rare.
Ex Dr V.J.A.Flynn Collection and previously CNG Auction 202, (lot 176), January 14, 2009 from the White Mountain Collection, with CNG ticket (realised US $225).
