GROUP OF SIX: Distinguished Service Order (GVR); Military Cross (GVR); Queen's South Africa Medal 1899 - four clasps - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19 with M.I.D. C.P.Harrison engraved on reverse of MC, Lieut C.P.Harrison 3-A.& S.Highrs on QSA (issued in 1923 with non swivel suspender), Lieut C.P.Harrison R.H.A. on Star, Major C.P.Harrison on last two medals. Impressed. Mounted for display, good very fine.

Cecil Pryce Harrison, born 25 July 1879 at Caerhowel, Montgomeryshire, educated at Eton College. In 1910 he married Lady Lettice Cholmondeley, daughter of the 4th Marquess of Cholmondeley. Harrison served in South Africa with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and in WWI with the 1/1st Nottingham Battery RHA which was brigaded with A and B Batteries HAC in the 19th Brigade, Australian Mounted Division. He was in command of the Notts Battery that supported the charge at Beersheba.
DSO:LG 11Apr1918 'For distinguished service in the field in connection with military operations culminating in the capture of Jerusalem'.
Recommendation citation (in Australian War Memorial) - 'Brought his battery into action in open at Beersheba on 1/1/17 and did a brilliant bit of shooting in semi darkness clearing enemy machine guns off a ridge where they were ... the 4 L.H.Bde advancing to make mtd attack on Beersheba.
Summeil 12/11/17 assisted materially in repelling enemy counter attack while his observation post in a very exposed position was under considerable shell fire.
Amwas 15/11/17 brought his battery through hills in most difficult country and engaged enemy guns enabling some ... and detachments there forcing enemy to abandon guns which were found by infantry next day.'
MC:LG 01Jan1917 'For services with the Western Frontier Force in operations against the Senussi tribes'.
