MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.75 g), Rhodes Mint, Ainetor Magistrate, issued c.201-190 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **ALEXANDROU* to right, **AINHTWR* to left over rose, P O under throne, dotted border, (cf.S.6713, Price 2518, BMC 2518, Ashton 251, Kleiner Rhodes, Series XIII, HGC 6, 1455, M.1160, SNG Cop. 762). Toned, extremely fine and a rare type.
