PAMPHYLIA, Aspendos,in the name of Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.28 g), dated CY 27, 186-5 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, A**S* to left, E below throne, to right **ALEXANDROU* and Seleucid countermark, (cf.S.6713, Price 2885). Lightly toned, nearly very fine and a scarce countermark.

The Seleucid anchor countermark has been attributed to the reign of Antiochos IV (175-164 B.C.).
