A trawler was hired by the Admiralty in 1916 to act as an auxiliary minesweeper and was renamed HMS Anzac in 1917. In 1919 the Royal Navy gifted five S Class destroyers to the Royal Australian Navy. One of these, HMS Anzac, was a Parker-class flotilla leader which became HMAS Anzac. It is not known which of the two ships this plaque relates to.
