QUEEN'S SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL 1899, (type 2 reverse), - two clasps - Rhodesia, Transvaal. 13 Pte H.Dolan, Vic: Scouts. Impressed. Contact marks and toned, otherwise very fine.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 121 (lot 3238) 2/8/2019.

Note the Regt No. 13 is incorrect as Dolan's correct number from the unit roll is 711.

Henry Dolan of Cassilis in Gippsland, prospector, age 30, enrolled as no.711, Cameron's Scouts, 3rd (Bushmen's) Contingent; contingent comprised 15 officers and 261 other ranks (Cameron's Scouts comprised 24 men attached to the contingent); Emb.10Mar1900; RTA 09May1901; Disemb.06Jun1901 at Melbourne, Vic and disbanded shortly after.
