A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed, the first medal officially renamed from Pte J.Wilson.; (Brother 2) Pair: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 22363 Cpl. A.E.Moody. 7 F.A.B. A.I.F. Both medals impressed. Display mounted, toned extremely fine.

Note: Statutory Declaration made by his mother on 8 February 1917 states that James Wilson was an assumed name and her son's correct name was Sydney Thomas Moody.
Together with King's Silver War badge, reverse numbered A27129; Nearest Female Relative's badge (AIF), reverse numbered 24475, no bar WWI Returned from Active Service badge (AIF); patriotic badge in silver and enamel, features map of Australia with crossed British and Australian flags in centre (some enamel missing).
James Wilson (actually Sydney Thomas Moody), butcher, age 34, born at Bondi, Sydney, NSW; Enl.06Mar1915 at Liverpool, Sydney, NSW in 18Bn, previously rejected due to varicocele; Emb.25Jun1915; to Gallipoli 16Aug1915; to T/Cpl 24Sep1915; to Cpl 23Nov1915; to France 18Mar1916; MIA 05Aug1916, later reported KIA 05Aug1916, in a successful attack on the ridge to the north east of Pozieres, France; commemorated at Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
